READING- Our topic of inquiry is how animals and people communicate. We’ll read and discuss the realistic fiction stories Amelia’s Show and Tell Day, Mice Squeak, We Speak, and the informational text The Fort Worth Zoo to help us discover answers to our topic. In addition, our high frequency word is “we,” we”ll blend and segment onsets and rimes, identify the “t” and long and short “a” sounds, continue to use sensory words to describe objects, and practice reading fluently.

MATH- The class is completing Chapter 4 and we’ll have a test on this chapter on Monday, December 21st. Review sheets will be sent home this week.

RELIGION- We’ve heard how God uses angels as His messengers.  He sent an angel to Zechariah, Mary, Joseph, and a multitude of angels to the shepherds to announce the birth of His Son. We have learned that we too can be God’s messengers when we sing praises, behave in a Christian manner towards others, tell others about God’s love and in many other ways. We continue to prepare our hearts for Jesus.

HANDWRITING- The students will practice writing capital and lower case “T-t” on the lines.

SOCIAL STUDIES- This week we will find out about busy holiday workers.

JOURNAL- Our sentence is “Jesus is born.” We’ll use stickers to make a Nativity scene.
