The 4th graders had a wonderful time at the BOCES Outdoor Education Center last week.  The weather was beautiful and we spent the whole day out side learning how early settlers made candles, did blacksmithing, and built homes.  Thanks to Mr. Williams for joining us!

This week is our first Math test.  If students fully understand the review sheets sent home last Thursday and Friday, they should do very well!

Week of: September 30 – October 4

Spelling: field, lead, speed, believe, deal, piece, reach, breeze, speak, agree, least, season, between, chief, steam, degree, reason, brief, repeat, peach

Vocabulary: calculate, feeble, necessity, sturdy

Writing Journal Assignment:  If you had all the money in the world, what charity would you start.  Explain at least two ways that your charity would help others.  Assignment should be two paragraphs with at least five sentences in each.

Math: Mid-Module One Exam; Adding and subtracting multi digit numbers

Science: Respiratory and circulatory systems

Social Studies: New York’s lakes and rivers; New York’s seasons

Reading: Ongoing free reading in class, reading notebook, conferencing

Language Arts: Simple subjects & predicates; compound subjects & predicates

Religion: daily devotions

Tests:

  • Tuesday – Math, Mid-Module 1
  • Thursday – Memory Quiz
  • Friday – Spelling Test, Unit 4

Important News:

  • Monday, September 30th is the last day for uniform shorts.
  • Friday is Lee National Denim Day.  Students may donate $5 to help research for breast cancer and then wear denim to school that day in support of the cause!
