Hello fabulous fourth grade families this week we will be doing a variety of lessons and activities.

Tuesday is Halloween. We will be celebrating in school, however students must wear their uniform.

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week in ELA will be using text set three from the Wonders Curriculum. This text set includes, “Kids can Help,” “Dollar and Sense” and “Kids in Business.” We will be working on the skills identifying the central idea, using text features such as graphs and charts to add to our understanding, and sequencing events. We will also be focusing on the question: how can starting a business help others? In grammar we will be focusing on differentiating compound and simple sentences. We will also be learning about argumentative writing, and begin the research process to help us answer the question: Should people be forced to evacuate during a hurricane? There will be a spelling test on 11-3.

Math: This week in math we begin Module 5, multiply by 1 digit numbers. We will not be using IntoMath. We will be learning how to do standard multiplication. Please encourage your child to use graph paper to help them line up their columns. There will be a Quzi on Friday 11-3.

Religion: This week we will start our study of the old testament lessons, focusing on Genesis chapters 1-2.

Social Studies: This week in S.S. we will continue our second chapter of S.S.: Three Worlds Meet. We will be focusing on the Native American groups found in New York, the Algonquin and the Iroquois.

Science: This week we return to the STEAM lab! Be sure to check Talking Points for some festive STEAM photos.

Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
