Hello fabulous fourth grade families this week we will be doing a variety of lessons and activities.

A reminder from our amazing class parents to please send in your class contribution by October 13th.

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week we will start our first full week of the wonders curriculum. We will be reading the shared texts titled “Avalanche,” “A World of Change,” and Earthquakes. We will be focusing on the skill of using text evidence to support opinions. There will be a short reading comprehension quiz based on the shared readings on Friday 10-6. There is no spelling HW or Reading Log this week. In writing we will be working on creating our Because of Winn-Dixie Scrapbook that will be due on Wednesday, 10-4. We will be starting Reading Log this week for HW. We will also be starting our first unit of Vocabulary, and vocabulary menu.

Math: This week in Math finish Module 2 with a Module 2 test on Monday 10-2. We will also start Module 3 focusing on the Interpret and Solve Problem Situations. We will be beginning multiplication. Our module will focus on differentiating when to use addition and multiplication in word problems. We will be using the Cubes method. Please be sure to check google classroom for helpful videos and handouts. I also put a copy of the HW pages that can be printed and completed if packets get lost.

Religion: This week we discuss the holy trinity. We will also be talking about our class bible verse and how it related to our school wide theme of kindness.

Social Studies: This week in S.S. we will continue our study of New York State. We also will begin our first at home S.S. project, New York State Floats, information went home last week and can also be found on Google Classroom. Floats are due by 10-13. We will be having a NY State Parade on 10-18 following chapel.

Science: This week we jump back into our science unit about the birth of rocks. Focusing on the patterns of volcanoes.
