Hello Fabulous Fourth Grade Families,
Happy Read Across America Week! To help our celebrations we will be going to the Scholastic Book Fair on Tuesday 3-4 at 10am. For additional information please refer to the information sent home last week. We will also be attending a school assembly on Internet Safety, Tuesday afternoon.
Please note that Trimester 2 ends on Wednesday March 12th.
Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:
ELA: In ELA we will be starting our next novel study, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, by Judy Blume. We will be working on the skills of plot and summarizing. We will also be working in small group reading the short play, Undercover Patriot. We will be working on the skill of character development. In writing we will start our unit on narrative writing.
Math: This week in math we start module 14, using fractions to understand angles. There will be a quiz for module 14 on Wednesday 3-11, and a test on 3-12. As always it is important to continue to review fact fluency at home to reinforce the skills taught in school. As always helpful videos and resources can be found on Google Classroom.
Religion: This week we will be learning about the miracles and life of Jesus.
Social Studies: This week in Social Studies we will learn about the end of the Revolutionary War, the Treaty of Paris, and Benjamin Franklin.
Science: This week we will start our next unit of science, Electricity, Light, & Heat. In this unit, students investigate the different forms of energy! Students obtain information about how heat energy, solar energy, wind energy, and water energy can be transformed into electrical energy. They also construct devices that convert energy from one form into another, such as heat into motion and electricity into light.
Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
