Hello Fabulous Fourth Grade Families,
Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:
ELA: In ELA we will be starting our next class read-aloud, Holes by Louis Sachar. We will be focusing on understanding Stanley Yelnats character development and growth during the book. In grammar we will continue learning about verbs. In writing we will continue our unit on narrative stories.
Math: This week in math we finish module 15, adding and subtracting mixed numbers with like denominators. There will be a quiz for module 15 on Thursday 3-27, and a test on Friday 3-28. As always it is important to continue to review fact fluency at home to reinforce the skills taught in school. As always helpful videos and resources can be found on Google Classroom.
Religion: This week we will be reading the book, Say Something by Peter H. Reynolds. We will then be connecting the moral of the story, a single voice can make a difference, and connecting it to biblical stories.
Social Studies: We will be continuing Ch. 5, A New Nation, learning about the U.S. Constitution as well as influential figures during this time period. There will be a choice board project due Friday. We will be working on it during the school day, but it will also need to be worked on at home.
Science: This week we will continue the unit of science, Electricity, Light, & Heat. In this unit, students investigate the different forms of energy! Students obtain information about how heat energy, solar energy, wind energy, and water energy can be transformed into electrical energy. They also construct devices that convert energy from one form into another, such as heat into motion and electricity into light.
STEM Lab: The 4th and 5th grade will also be learning about Bio Inspired Engineering concepts over the next 5 weeks. Students will be exploring the concept of camouflage.
Blessings,
Ms. Stainkamp
