Hello Fabulous Fourth Grade Families!

Please take a moment to review what we will be covering over this week. It is important that students bring in a charged chromebook to school each day.
Our Physical Education Special on Tuesday has been moved to Thursdays at 10:40-11:20 for the month of March. Please be sure that your child wears sneakers on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s. We will be going outside every day we can, it is important that your child is dressed appropriately.

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week in ELA we will be beginning Unit 3 of the Wonders curriculum. We will be focusing on the skill of summarizing. We will be using the following shared texts: Nelson Mandela-Working for Freedom, Juldy’s Appalachia, and finishing our class read-aloud I Survived the Battle of Gettysburg, 1863. For writing we will be working on writing summary paragraphs. In grammar we are continuing our study of verbs, focusing on more irregular verbs and contractions with not.

Math: This week in math we will finish working in module 13, Using Fractions to Understand Angles. Our test will be on 3-13. Please remember to check google classroom for reteach pages, HW, helpful handouts, and videos. Students are encouraged to practice their fact fluency each night. It is vital that students are familiar and comfortable with their multiplication facts. We will also begin Module 14 focusing on adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators.

Religion: This week we are finishing our unit on the Life of Jesus. We will be talking about his life and his ministries. And we will be beginning to discuss the end of his ministries and the focus of the season of lent.

Social Studies: We will be continuing Chapter 6, Social Change and the Civil War. We will also be continuing our second I Survived read aloud, I Survived the Battle of Gettysburg. On Wednesday we will be going over our next S.S. project, Civil War Choice Board, which is due on 3-22.

Science: This week we are continuing our unit, Energy Everywhere. We will be investigating the question, why are some sounds high and some sounds low? As well as looking at how we can use materials and supplies to model sound waves.
