Hello Fabulous Fourth Grade Families!

The 4th graders have a busy week ahead! I hope that you had a chance to rest and relax during this much deserved break.

Please take a moment to review what we will be covering over this week. It is important that students bring in a charged chromebook to school each day.

Our Physical Education Special on Tuesday has been moved to Thursdays at 10:40-11:20 for the month of February. Please be sure that your child wears sneakers on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s. We will be going outside every day we can, it is important that your child is dressed appropriately.

Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:

ELA: This week in ELA we will be beginning Unit 3 of the Wonders curriculum. We will be focusing on the skill of point of view and perspective. We will be using the following shared texts: Hurricane Katrina, Books, and Aguinaldo. We will also be reading Cinderella from various perspectives and comparing how a person’s view can greatly effect their interpretation of events. In grammar we are continuing our study of verbs, focusing on helping verbs. In writing, we will be typing and editing our expository essays for publishing! I am so proud of how hard everyone has been working on their writing.

Math: This week in math we will begin working in module 13, Using Fractions to Understand Angles. Please remember to check google classroom for reteach pages, HW, helpful handouts, and videos. Students are encouraged to practice their fact fluency each night. It is vital that students are familiar and comfortable with their multiplication facts.

Religion: This week we are continuing our unit on the Life of Jesus. We will be talking about his life and his ministries. There is an at home religion project that will be counted as a test grade that is due on 3-3. Students need to select a miracle of Jesus, and create a triorama as well as a paragraph explaining their miracle.

Social Studies: We will be beginning Chapter 6, Social Change and the Civil War. We will also be starting our second I Survived realaloud, I Survived the Battle of Gettysburg.

Science: This week we are continuing our unit, Energy Everywhere. We will be investigating our next question, what would happen if you screamed in space?

I am looking forward to a fantastic week with a fabulous group of fourth graders.

Blessings,

Ms. Stainkamp
