Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s class notes!
Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!
Spelling- The words for this week are: if, is, him, rip, fit, pin. The children will write their spelling words 3x each for homework by Wednesday in their “S” books. There will be a Spelling test on Friday.
Phonics- We will focus on the sounds of r, h, z, and short i
Language Arts- possessive nouns; proofreading; captions
Reading: We will read the story The Storm this week. The children will bring home their Reading books later in the week to read the story again at home. The ‘R” book words are: for, he, have, look, too, what.
The children should be able to read this story to you. They should also be fluently reading the decodable readers that I send home daily. The decodable readers do not come back to school. There will be a Reading test on Friday.
Math- There will be a test Tuesday on Chapter 1. The children will take a practice test on Monday and you can use that to review with your child. We will then begin chapter 2 on subtraction.
Religion- Read and discuss the stories of “God Created the World” and “Cain and Abel”
Science- Why do seasons change?
Social Studies- Family customs and celebrations
Weekly Reader- Let’s Stay Healthy
It was great to see so many parents at our Zoom Back to School Night last week! Please don’t hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns. I uploaded the handouts (that I usually give out on Back to School Night) onto Google Classroom.
I am asking all parents to email me when you first view my weekly blog on Trinity’s website so that I know you can access it and are reading it each week. I will update it every Monday with information about what the children are doing in class and test dates.
Encourage your child to READ every night to strengthen their skills. I uploaded some reading material for you to look at (from Back to School Night) about the importance of daily reading.
Tests: Tuesday-Math Test on chapter 1: Addition
Friday- Spelling test: short i words
Reading test on “The Storm”
Have a great week, and feel free to email me any time: Jflomer@trinityhicksville.org
“Your children are the greatest gift God will give to you, and their souls the heaviest responsibility He will place in your hands. Take time with them, teach them to have faith in God. Be a person in whom they can have faith. When you are old, nothing else you’ve done will have mattered as much.”
