Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s Notes
Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week. Test dates were changed due to the 2 snow days last week!
Spelling- The new words that the children got last week were: so, go, home, hole, no, rope, joke, bone, stove, poke. Since there are 10 (long o) spelling words, I will only be including 2 of the “R” book words (around and because) on the spelling test. They are on the spelling list. They need to be able to read all of the “R” book words fluently for the vocabulary portion of the reading test. The children will write their spelling words 3x each and write their sentences by this Tuesday. Encourage your child to use at least 5 words in each sentence. Spelling test will be this Wednesday, 2/10. No new words after the test this week.
Phonics- long o and u
Language Arts- questions; suffixes; narrative writing
Reading: We have started our 4th reading book. The story we began last week is Let’s go to the Moon! Please have your child read it at home before the test. The “R” book words are: around, bring, show, because, carry, think, before, and light. The reading test will be given this Wednesday (2/10). I will not begin a new story in Reading this week since we will not be in school next week.
Math- We will have begin chapter 8, adding and subtracting 10’s.
Social Studies- Black History Month- continue our booklets, learning about famous African Americans. We will also discuss President’s Day and learn about Abe Lincoln and George Washington.

Pizza envelopes due Thursday!
Reminder: We are going to have a Valentine card exchange on February 12th. A class list was sent home 2 weeks ago. Please make sure there is a Valentine card for all 13 students.
Next week is our Winter Recess! School will resume on February 22nd.
