I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend! Here is a look at what we will be doing this week:
SPELLING- The new words for this week are: call, sang, shop, want, fish, ship, thing, with. The children should write their words (neatly) in their “S” books by Wednesday. The test will be given on Friday.
PHONICS- short u; th and sh words
GRAMMAR- Common and proper nouns
READING- We will read the story “Nell’s Books”. The children will bring the book home this weeek to practice reading it to someone at home. In this next trimester, they will be reading more of the reading tests on their own. They will eventually be reading the whole test to themselves but for now I will continue to read the comprehension story to them on the first few pages of the test. The test will be given on Friday.
MATH- We will finish chapter 5 this week, and the test will be given on Wednesday. I will read the word problems to them on the test and they will figure out the answer by adding or subtracting the given numbers in the word problem.
Religion- We will read stories about Samson and Hannah
Weekly Reader-Holidays
Social Studies- Maps; cardinal directions
NOTES
We will be going out for recess on most sunny days if the temperature is not excessively cold, so please make sure that your child has a hat and mittens as it gets colder.
Our Christmas luncheon for K,1,and 2 will be on Thursday December 15th. Please remember to send in a wrapped book for your child on thye 13th (from Santa). Thank you to our class moms for organizing this fun event!
I will be sending home a class list for the children to write out Christmas cards for each other for a card exchange the week before Christmas recess. The children really enjoy getting cards from each other.
