Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s Notes
Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!
Spelling- The new words for this week are: so, go, home, hole, no, rope, joke, bone, stove, poke. Since there are now 10 spelling words, I will only be including 4 of the “R” book words on the spelling tests (they are on the spelling list). They will still need to be able to read all of the “R” book words fluently for the vocabulary portion of the reading test. The children will write their spelling words 3x each by Tuesday. They should write 6 sentences by Thursday. Encourage your child to use at least 5 words in each sentence. Spelling test will be on Friday.
Phonics- long o and u
Language Arts- questions; suffixes; narrative writing
Reading: We have started our 4th reading book! The story this week is Let’s go to the Moon! Please have your child read it at home before the test. We have completed the first of two reading workbooks, which will be sent home. The “R” book words are: around, bring, show, because, carry, think, before, and light. The reading test will be given on Friday.
Math- comparing numbers: using the >,<,= signs
Science- migration
Social Studies- book 3- Life long ago

January 26th-31st is Lutheran Schools Week. We will be doing many special things to celebrate Trinity Lutheran School.
Scholastic book orders are due this week. There are some good selections this month!
We are going to have a Valentine card exchange on February 14th, as we did for Christmas cards. A class list will be sent home this week.
