Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s Class Notes for the week of 9/12/2022.

We have had a wonderful start to first-grade! The children are all settling into the routine, and are happy to be back with all their friends. They are excited to have their own desks full of books, and they are learning to work more independently.

I will be administering benchmark assessments to the children in Math this week, which will be given again mid-year and at the end of first grade to show their progress. We will begin work in all subject areas this week. In ELA, we are focusing on reviewing and assessing this week.

One of the many exciting things about first grade is our Smart Board. We use it daily, whether it is to learn Math, reinforce what we are learning in Language Arts, Science and Social Studies, or have fun playing games and singing songs. We work very hard in first-grade, but we enjoy down time too when we go outside, enjoy snacks in the classroom, or eat lunch in the cafeteria with our friends.

I look forward to a year full of learning, fun, and working together to make our classroom environment the best it can be! September 20th is Back to School Night. More information to follow. Please make every effort to attend as I will be explaining more about our curriculum, schedule, procedures, and classroom activities.
