Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s class notes!
Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!
Spelling- The new words for this week are: bedtime, sunset, bathtub, sailboat, flagpole, backpack, playpen, raincoat, inside, himself. The children will write their spelling words 3x each for home and write 5 sentences by Thursday. Use at least 5 words in each sentence. The children may also write a story using 5 of the words. Their writing skills have really grown! The spelling test (only 10 words) will be on Friday.
Phonics- short e words; compound words
Language Arts- prepositions
Reading: We will read the story Little Rabbit’s Tale. The children will read it again at home. The Reading test will be given on Friday. The “R” book words are: door, more, mother, old, try, use, want, wash. They will be on the vocabulary portion of the reading test.
Math- chapter 7- Test on Tuesday
Practice test on Monday
Social Studies- American Symbols
Religion- Stories about Jesus’ Miracles
Weekly Reader- Baby Birds (Are you my Mother?)

Please make sure that your child is reading the words in his/her “R” book nightly. They should also be reviewing all the words from the beginning of the year in their books each week (as well as the “S” book) so they stay familiar with them. Some children often forget how spell the spelling words once they are tested on them.
