Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s class notes!
Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!
Spelling- The new words for this week are: play, grain, sail, mail, may, rain, way, day, stay, pain, first, right, your, these. The children will write their spelling words 3x each by Tuesday. They should write 6 sentences by Thursday. The spelling test will be on Friday. Please remind your child to use at least five words in each sentence.
Phonics- ai, ay words; contractions ‘ll and ‘d
Language Arts- names of months, days, holidays
Reading: We will read the story Where Does Food Come From? The children will read it again at home. The reading test will be on Friday. The children should focus on what the pictures in the story are telling the reader. Make sure that your child is reading the daily decodable readers fluently each night.
Math- chapter 8 (addition strategies)
Social Studies- exploration: Columbus
Weekly reader- Life in 100 Years
1AA News
We have a busy week coming up, with lots of fun things going on. This Thursday (2/13) we will be traveling to the Bellmore Theater to see the musical “The Rainbow Fish”. We will leave Trinity at 9:40 and return by noon.
Friday, 2/14, is Red Day and Valentines Day. We will have special red snacks and a Valentine card exchange.
School will be closed on February 17-21 for winter recess.
We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Friday, February 28th! A memo will go home this week with details about the day, and asking for parents to bake a dozen cookies.
