I hope everyone had a great weekend! Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week in first grade:

Spelling- The new words for this week are: like, ride, bike, make, water, spike, hide, mine, came, should. The words should be written 3x each by Wednesday. The test will be given on Friday.

Phonics– long vowels; rhyming

Grammar– present tense verbs

Reading– We are on lesson 12 in our reading series. The story this week is a play called “The Big Yuca Plant”. The children will take turns reading the different parts of the play orally. We will also read a non-fiction story. The test will be given on Friday and will be the same format as always.

Math– We will have a math test on Tuesday. The children have been doing very well with finding the missing numbers in word problems. We have been practicing for weeks, and they are doing well solving the problems during math lessons.

Science-Animal survival

Social Studies– Land forms

Weekly Reader– Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

NEWS
I will be sending home a book order this week, and they will be due next week if you would like to order books for your child. Scholastic is offering a free book for each child with their order.

Fast Athletics starts again this Friday if you signed up for the new session.
