6th and 7th Grade will be beginning a novel called “Hidden Figures”. This is a novel about the African American women who pioneers space exploration by being “Human Computers” for NASA. In order to introduce the book, which is historical non-fiction, the students will be conducting research on the main characters and working in groups to create a presentation of their findings. We will then begin the novel on Friday.
8th Grade will be beginning a novel called “The Wave”. This is a book about a social experiment that is similar to the control of Hitler and the Holocaust. It is based on a true story. The students will be watching a video on the Holocaust and will be visiting the museum on Wednesday with myself and Social Studies. We will then start reading the book on Thursday.
