Happy New Year!

This week we start a new theme in literacy about Awesome Animals. We will read Biggest, Strongest, Fastest, Is Your Mama a Llama?, and Roar. We will learn new vocabulary words including: animal, climb, feathers, fly, fur, scales, and swim. We will begin to learn about different animal habitats, and begin our unit on penguins and polar animals. We will also read Owl Moon by Jane Yolen and make a fun snowy owl by stamping white paint.

In math we will focus on number 11, and continue to review our shapes. We will compare sizes using the vocabulary: biggest, tallest, and longest.

This week we will focus on letter Kk with a K song and a story called “Kicky Kangaroo”. We will also practice writing the letter K. In relation to Epiphany this past Sunday, we will make a K is for King project.

We will visit chapel this week on Wednesday, and we will talk this week about little boy Jesus.

If the weather is above 40 degrees we will continue to go outside. If the weather is inclement, we will get to ride tricycles in the gym. You may send in a helmet if you wish.

In the sensory table we will have glaciers and icebergs along with penguins and other polar animals. During centers we will have white, sparkly snow play dough, snowman puzzles, winter lacing, and other winter activities.

Have a blessed week.
