Dear Parents,

Happy Memorial Day! We have a short week this week with only three days of school. There is no school on Thursday for the children as the teachers and staff have Professional Development. We are also off on Friday, May 23rd and Monday, May 26th in observance of Memorial Day.

Last week we enjoyed learning about different fruits and tasting them to see which was our favorites. We ended the week by making delicious fruit smoothies to show the children that we can drink our fruits too! This week we will start our unit on Sea Life. For the rest of the month we will be learning about different sea animals, specifically whales and octopus.

The letter for this week is “O” for Octopus. The children will learn how to recognize, sound out, and trace the letter “O”. This letter marks the end of the alphabet with the children learning all 26 letters – their shapes and sounds. Our Toddler Class will be leading chapel for us this week. For religion, we will learn that Jesus knows our name. We will also spend the next few weeks practicing the songs we learned for our Moving Up Ceremonies.

Wednesday, May 21st we are celebrating Cultural Day. All children are invited to attend school on this day and they are invited to dress in their traditional cultural clothing as well as bring in a dish they love from their culture to share with their classmates.

Have a Blessed Day!
Miss Susan and Miss Kelly
