I can’t believe we are already getting ready to welcome in the month of February with so much snow! I’m excited to teach the kids about Groundhog Day, Black History Month, Dental Health Month, President’s Day, and celebrate Valentine’s Day.  For the shortest month of the year, it packs a punch!

Wednesday is Groundhog Day so on Tuesday we will learn about Punxsutawney Phil and we will make a prediction as to whether or not he will see his shadow. I will ask the class “Who wants the weather to stay cold and who wants the weather to get hot?” We will also make a fun groundhog day craft that you’re sure to love!

On Tuesday, we will make fake snow and have sensory play time with snow.  On Thursday, we will explore ice and enjoy some sensory play to see if ice is hot or cold. We are going to learn about the color green and go on a scavenger hunt in class for all items green.

We will read Groundhog Day and The Color Green. We will also learn the “Five Little Icicles” song. For Jesus time this week, we will talk about how God made us different and unique yet he loves each and everyone of us.  We will also learn that Jesus knows each one of us by name and he loves all the little children of the world.
