Dear Parents,
This past week, the children learned about the letter “C: for community. They learned all about community helpers and had a visit from the Hicksville Fire Department. We learned all about fire safety and even got to go inside the fire truck. We learned about the color blue and continued working on our “Mixing colors” book.
This coming week, we will learn about the letter “T” for Thanksgiving. We will learn how to recognize, sound out, and write the letter T. We will focus on being thankful this week and learn all about how Thanksgiving came to be. The children will make Thanksgiving place mats for our Thanksgiving Feast on November 27th. We will be doing our Scholastic weekly reader “I Can Help,” which teaches us how we can be helpful and grateful during Thanksgiving. This week, we will focus on the color Purple. We will be showing the children how to mix the colors Red and Blue to make Purple. Their “Mixing Colors” book should be completed this week. We will also be practicing our songs for our winter show so don’t be surprised if your child starts singing some of the songs at home! 🙂
For math instruction, the children will be reinforcing their number skills by learning about “The Five Little Turkeys.” They will also do a Color by Number turkey which reinforces numbers and colors.
For religion this week we will be learning about the Fruit of the Spirit. It teaches us how to be thankful for all that we have.
