Dear Parents,
This past week the children learned about the letter M for mitten. We discussed what we should wear in the cold weather and made snow for our science activity. We learned how to write and sound out the letter M. We also began our science unit on Arctic Animals. We talked about how they live and survive in their habitat and watched a Scholastic movie on “Animals of the Arctic.” Each week we will be learning about a different arctic animal. The children also learned about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and why he is an important figure in history.
This week we will learn how to sound out and write the letter N for Narwhal. We will continue our science unit on Arctic Animals by learning about Narwhals and how they survive in their habitat. The children will be doing some tracing and coloring pages, and also make a Narwhal craft. This week the children will also practice writing the number 3. They will also get to paint a Narwhal coloring page with the colored ice cubes we made in class with water and food coloring.
For religious instruction, the children will learn that “Jesus grew as I grew.”
