Last week we enjoyed turning our classroom into a pumpkin farm and learning all about pumpkins. This week we will explore “Bats.” Bats are a fun learning theme during the Halloween season when the days are getting shorter and the nights longer.
Bats are nocturnal animals. We will learn about the evening and the difference between nocturnal and diurnal animals. We will study the parts of a bat and the science behind how bats can ‘see’ with their ears. We will participate in a bat sight game using simple musical instruments and design our own flying bats. During writing time, the children will dictate stories about bats and about their own favorite nighttime activities.
Math activities this week will include a bat counting book and bat counting fingerplays. In addition, we have many fun art projects to enjoy this week including a mask bat background painting, designing 3D flying bats and experimenting with painting bats with marbles. We also have a variety of fun bat themed books to read and a few silly bat fingerplays to sing.
Jesus time songs will include, “My God Is So Great,” “This Little Light of Mine,” and “Praise Him.” Jesus Time will focus on “Jesus is the light of the world.”
Please be reminded that Nursery and Pre-K permission slips for White Post Farms are due Monday, 10/17/22. The trip to White Post Farms will be held on October 26th from 10am – 1pm (a parent or guardian must accompany each child)
