Last week we celebrated the first day of Spring and discovered a little about life in a pond.  We had fun learning about ducks and singing the fingerplay, “5 Little Ducks.”

This week we will explore more about life in a pond in the springtime.  We will create our own classroom model of a pond as we study the pond ecosystem and the plants and animals that live in it.  We will learn about frogs (a pond animal) and discover their very interesting life cycle.  We will count and sort colored frogs and enjoy singing the fingerplay, “5 Green and Speckled Frogs.”

We will also learn about how springtime means warmer weather and more sunshine.  Each day in spring will be a few minutes longer than the day before.  We will thank God for his gift of spring sunshine as we participate in the lesson, “God made the sunshine” from Faith Alive.  We will sing the songs, “Mr. Sun” and “You Can’t Keep Jesus’ Love In Box” at Jesus Time this week.

Friday will be our class Easter Extravaganza.  Drop off is at 9 am.  Festivities will begin at 9:15 am.  There will be an egg hunt followed by games and a special visit from the Easter Bunny!  The event should end around 10:15.  Children are invited to stay in school afterwards for the remainder of the school day.
