Last week we enjoyed celebrating St Patrick’s Day together and learning more about Irish culture. This week spring begins! We will look for signs from our environment that spring is here!
Along with the season of spring, comes rain, melting snow, warmer weather and a return of animal and plant life to ponds. This week we will explore life in the pond and learn about “Ducks.” Our learning theme will be “Yellow Ducks.” We will discover letter Yy and learn more about the different ducks that live on a pond. Our activities will include: the life cycle of a duck, counting the “Five Little Ducks” fingerplay, enjoying stories including “Duck In A Truck,” learning about the science behind feathers and creating a variety of duck inspired artworks.
Our learning centers include a duck pond sensory station, feather blowing and observing growing plants in STEM, Letter Yy games in Literacy and a pretend Hair Salon (Ruffle Up Your Feathers) in Dramatic Play. Our Jesus Time lesson this week will be “Children Praise Jesus.” We will begin learning our special Easter songs as well.
Next week we will learn about another animal that lives in the pond: the frog! Please note that there is no school this Friday. We are closed for professional development.
