Welcome to our first week of pre-k!

Our language arts theme for the month of September is “Ready For School!” We will be reading My New School, Owen, The Kissing Hand, and Annie, Bea, and Chi Chi Dolores this week. We will also play a yarn game to introduce ourselves on Monday. We will learn a new song “The More We Get Together”, and learn some new finger plays.

For math, we will be reviewing the color red, circle, and the numbers 0 and 1. We will also learn about patterns during small group instruction and will create our own pattern by the end of the week.

For Jesus time we will read the big book Jesus Loves Me, and other stories to introduce the children to the love of Jesus. We will sing songs including “Jesus Loves Me”, “Jesus Loves the Little Children”, and the “B-I-B-L-E”. The children will also meet our friend Jelly who loves to teach the children about Jesus.

Our seasonal theme for the month of September is apples. We will read I am an Apple, and 10 Apples Up on Top. We will create an apple with red, cinnamon scented paint and we will have a special applesauce snack on Friday.

We wil also learn this week about classroom rules, playground rules, what to do during a fire drill, and a fun hand washing song to get all those germs away!

During centers we will have red, cinnamon scented play dough, apple counters, patterning toys, and apple pie cloud dough in the sensory table.

If you haven’t already signed up for Class Dojo please do so as soon as possible.

Looking forward to a wonderful first week!
