Happy 3rd week of school everyone! I cannot believe the end of this week will be October! Thankfully the weather is starting to cool off a bit. With that in mind, please remember that at this time of year, it may be cool in the mornings, but the afternoons still tend to warm up and the children get very hot playing on the playground. I would suggest dressing in layers that can be removed as it gets warmer.
This week we will start working on a letter per week, beginning with the letter Aa. We will learn words that begin with the letter Aa, read an Aa story called “Apple Auntie”, learn a song about the letter Aa, and make an A is for Alligator project.
Our Big Day curriculum topic this week is “Learning Together”. Our new vocabulary words are: learn, partners, together. We will read My Friends, and Mouse’s First Day of School.
Math this week will be about the color green, rectangle, and #3. We will also practice comparing with words including: shorter, taller, longer.
In Jesus time this week we will continue learning about Creation. We will learn days 4-7 this week and finish coloring in our Creation book. We will also continue learning the words to our Creation song.
Science this week will conclude our apple unit. We will taste red, yellow, and green apples on Friday and decide which one we like the best. We will also experiment to see if apples sink or float. We planted apple seeds last week so we will be checking to see if they started growing yet, and we also put some apple pieces in the dirt and we have already noticed that they are starting to decompose! We will also have a special visit from Johnny Appleseed himself this week, and watch a Disney video about Johnny Appleseed.
Our specials this week are Art with Mrs. Kerwin on Tuesday and Gym with Mr. Mallon on Wednesday.
Please remember pizza envelopes are due by Wednesday.
Have a beautiful, blessed week everyone!
