Welcome to week 2! The first week of school went so well! Everyone is learning the rules for school, and the class routine and doing a great job!
This week in our Big Day curriculum our theme will be “Making Friends”. We will read Friends at School, and A Splendid Friend Indeed. Our vocabulary words for this week will be: friends, play, and help.
For math this week we will learn yellow, square, and #2. We will also learn positional words including: in, on, under, between, in front of, next to, and beside. We will make a book placing apples all around an apple tree using positional words.
For Jesus time for the next 2 weeks we will be learning about Creation. We will learn a Creation song, read the book The World That God Made, and create a coloring book with all of the days of Creation.
For science this week we will continue to talk about apples. We will continue to review the parts of an apple, we will plant apple seeds, and we will learn a big word “decompose”. We will put a piece of an apple in the dirt and watch it decompose over the next several weeks. We will also make “predictions” about what will happen to an apple if we leave it sit out over several days.
Our art projects this week will include painting yellow plates to make sunflowers, and stamping apples to make apple headbands for the story Ten Apples up on Top.
Our specials this week are: Art with Mrs. Kerwin on Tuesday and Gym with Mr. Mallon on Wednesday.
