We continue this week with our discussion of family, and I ask you to please send in a family photo if you have not already done so. Our theme for this week is “We take care of each other”. We will read Mama Zooms, Too Many Tamales, and My Day from A to Z. Our vocabulary will be “caring, cousins, feelings, and love”. We will begin putting together our family tree display and discuss how families are the same and different.
This week we will learn about the letter Dd. We will read “Ditto Dog” and learn a Dd song. Please help your child choose an item at home the begins with the letter Dd to share with friends on Friday. We will also read If You Give a Dog a Donut and if someone would like to send in 2 dozen donuts on Friday for snack I would appreciate it. We will also make a D is for Donut project.
In math this week will review #6, purple, and the shape diamond/rhombus. We will read the book Harold and the Purple Crayon and create our own purple adventures. We will also learn about measuring objects and using the words “length, longer, longest, shorter, shortest”.
During Jesus time we will continue learning about Abraham and the promise God made to him. We will learn a new Abraham song as well.
After visiting the farm on Friday, we will begin some lessons on farm animals. This week we will talk about pigs, and make a muddy, pink pig project. We will also play with pigs in brown ooblek in the sensory table.
For science we continue to explore pumpkins. We will check to see if our little pumpkin started to “sprout” and we will carve one of our big pumpkins from the pumpkin farm and use our 5 senses to explore. We will reinforce our vocabulary of “stem, shell, pulp, flesh, and seeds” and we will create our own pumpkin representation project.
Please be reminded that this Saturday October 19th from 10-12 is our Open House. Please tell friends and family that might be interested in both our ECC and elementary school to stop by and take a tour. If you are at all considering kindergarten in Trinity please stop by and see all that we have to offer.
Have a blessed week!
