I hope everyone is enjoying the 3 day weekend and the beautiful weather. Last week we began our farm unit with muddy pigs and a new sensory table to explore that all of the children have been thoroughly enjoying. We also painted red and yellow at the easel and used our scissors to cut out pumpkins. The best part of the week was baking homemade bread on Friday!
This week we begin a new unit in our Big Day curriculum: My Family. Our first topic is “Who’s in my family?” We will read Bear’s Busy Family, Herman the Helper, and Daddy Calls Me Man. Our vocabulary words will be: mother, father, sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather.
Our letter for this week is Cc. We will practice writing the letter Cc, practice the letter Cc sound, and letter Cc words.
For math this week we will review brown, diamond/rhombus, and the number 5.
For Jesus time this week we will continue learning about Abraham, and we will visit chapel on Wednesday. We learned a new song last week: “The B-I-B-L-E”, and we learned the “God is Great” prayer for snack and lunch time.
For science this week we will learn about bats. We will learn that bats are nocturnal, they are mammals NOT birds, and they use echolocation to find food. We will watch Franklin and His Night Friend on Friday.
This week is Fire Prevention Week so we will read a Weekly Reader about firefighters.
