Can it really be the last week in May? This entire year seems to have flown by! I hope everyone is enjoying this summer-like weather as Summer unofficially starts this weekend with Memorial Day.

This week will be week 3 in our Moving On unit with the topic “I Can Do It”. We will read Leo the Late Bloomer, The Little Engine that Could, and Read and Rise. Our new vocabulary will be: finish, goal, and quit.

For math we will practice simple subtraction with the question “How many are left?” We will also review #12 and continue to practice rote counting and ordinal numbers each day with the calendar.

For Jesus time we will continue to practice our songs for the closing program.

Our sight words this week are “to” and “we”.

The warm weather makes us think about the beach and ocean animals, so this week we will talk about jellyfish. We will make a fun jellyfish project, color a jellyfish emergent reader booklet, and watch some fun videos about jellyfish.

We will also talk later in the week about why we celebrate Memorial Day.

Dates to remember:

No school Friday May 28 and Monday May 31 in observance of Memorial Day.

ECC’s week of fun will be June 1-4. Please see flier posted on Class Dojo for more information.

Our closing program will be Thursday June 10 at 9:30am.

Our last day of class will be Wednesday June 16.

Have a blessed week everyone!
