We have finally made it to the end of January! This week we will conclude our unit on Arctic animals with penguins and polar bears for the letter P. We will make a P is for Polar Bear craft as well as coloring a penguin and a polar bear to finish our Arctic animals coloring book. Our afternoon friends are working on footprint penguins to decorate our classroom door. We will read our Scholastic Weekly Reader “A Puffin is Not a Penguin”. We have also started working with our pencils and are beginning to learn how to write our names. Up to this point we have been practicing spelling our names and I am so proud at how well my friends have learned to spell their name.

Our number for this week is 5. For math we will also measure how tall we are compared to an Emperor Penguin and measure how big our foot is compared to a Polar Bear’s foot.

On Wednesday we will visit chapel and have gym with Mr. Mallon. Our Jesus theme for this week is Jesus loves Children.

I have been watching my friends closely these past few weeks and have been taking note of the kind things they say and do. We are creating a kindness wall for the month of February.

This week ends with Groundhog Day on Friday. Will Punxsutawney Phil see his shadow this year? I sure hope not! I’m ready for Spring! We will talk about shadows for science this week as well.

Have a blessed week everyone!
