Greetings, everyone! Here are the latest updates from Social Studies and 8AA.

8th Social Studies

Toward the end of last week, the eighth graders worked in groups to develop ideas for successful businesses, just as the great businessmen of the early 20th century did. The groups are presenting this week, and so far the ideas have been very creative and well thought out. We will then change gears and look at the impact of labor unions, urbanization, and the push/pull factors of immigration.

7th Social Studies

Both classes had their mock trials and learned some good lessons on being able to argue and prove a point. This week we will be looking at the various social classes that developed in the colonies, as well as the unfortunate roots of slavery in the United States.

8AA Religion

This week we are focusing on the account of the 12 spies entering the Promised Land. This can be found in the book of Numbers. The memory verse for this week is Isaiah 41:13, which can be found here or on page 41 in the student workbook.

In closing, I’d like to share a video with all of you that serves as a wonderful reminder of why Christmas is an especially joyful time of year. Enjoy!
