This Week in Art

It’s Springtime in the Art Room ~ both Prek and Kindergarten classes are working on flower projects.  PreK will learn about the Spring and Fall dandelions.  They will be using yellow and white paint to create their version of each dandelion. Kindergarten will be sharpening up their watercolor skills as they paint their tulip drawings. First Graders will learn about the encaustic American flag paintings of Jasper Johns (more about these next week).  Second Grade will learn about the artist Pablo Picasso and will spend the next three classes creating an abstract Picasso Face.

The Third Grade class will be using yarn to create a Yarn Collage.  Fourth Graders will continue work on their flat and peaked-roof structures as they learn more about different types of architectural details.  The Fifth Grade class did a wonderful job creating their figurative sculptures out of tin foil.  This week they will add assemblage materials to create a character in motion.

Sixth graders needed one more class this week to finish up their portraits and I have to say they are AMAZING!!!  The Seventh Grade will continue work on their Circle Cities/One Point Perspective drawings.  Eighth graders will use scratchboard to create a design or drawing of their choice.  Finally, the Art Elective class will continue to use acrylic paint on canvas this week.

REMINDER:  THE FINE ARTS FESTIVAL IS THE ENTIRE MONTH OF MAY!!!   Come see the fantastic artwork our Trinity student body has created all year.  It will be displayed throughout the hallways so if you’re in the building come take a peek!   Another great time to admire the artwork is the night of our K-8 Spring Concert!

Keep Creating!
