Calling All Artists! This year’s Doodle for Google Art Contest invites all of our K-8 students to express their creativity by drawing their very own Google Doodle in response to the prompt “My wish for the next 25 years.” The winning Doodle will be displayed on the Google homepage for 24 hours and be awarded a college scholarship! You can learn more details about this exciting contest and how to submit your entry from the parent letter and forms sent home with your child. *Students in grades 3-8 also have the forms posted in their Art Google Classrooms. The deadline for submitting your artwork is March 14, 2024. Questions regarding the contest can be directed to Mrs. Kerwin [email protected]. Good Luck to all and Happy Doodling!
This Week in Art
PreK will finish painting their version of Kandinsky’s famous work of art — Concentric Circles. The Kindergarten will be mixing primary colors of paint so that they can paint the rest of their mice pictures using secondary colors. First Grade will finish up their Shades of Green Magazine Collages.
Third Grade will be using magazine pictures to create a Surreal Collage inspired by the artwork of Salvador Dali. Fourth Grade will be learning about the contemporary, pop art style of Japanese artist Yoyoi Kusama. Fifth grade will use class time to complete their Optical Illusion Tunnel drawings.
Sixth Graders wil be completing their Graffiti Tags this week. Seventh Grade will continue weaving on their cardboard looms. I think the class is really starting to get the hang of weaving!!! Hooray!! Eighth Grade will complete their Profile Collages this week — they are doing a wonderful job!!! Finally, Art Elective class will finish building and start painting their wood sculptures.
