This Week in Art
Our ECC classes will be finishing up their Coffee Filter Easter Bunnies this week. After the Easter break we look forward to talking about Spring in art and creating our Spring projects: Cherry Blossom Trees, Daffodils, Dandelions, Hyacinths and ladybugs.
The Kindergarten, First and Second Grade classes will finish up their unit on color theory. Kindergarten learned about the color wheel and primary colors. They learned a few fun songs to help them remember these colors too. The class watched a read aloud video of the book Mouse Paint and will finish coloring in their mice color wheel sheets. First Grade enjoyed partner mixing the secondary colors using tempera paint. Both First and Second Grades made primary and secondary color wheel turtles. First Grade will start painting a Spring Watercolor picture and Second Grade will create a picture using only primary and secondary colors.
Third Grade will finish up their Book Character Masks. When you are in the school please stop by and see their masks displayed in the glass cabinet by Pastor’s office. Everyone did such a wonderful job!
Grades Four through Eight will get ready to prepare their artwork for our upcoming annual Fine Arts Festival.
Our new Art Elective class has started work on their 3D Identity Name Sculptures. They are in the process of cutting out the decorative letters they have drawn and colored that spell out their first names. Then they will build a sculpture using the slot method of attaching cardboard and reinforcing the attached letters with glue. Be sure to look for pictures I have posted for the finished results.
Happy Spring and Keep Creating,
Mrs. E. Kerwin
