This Week in Art

Our PreK students will be using their fine motor skills to paste and put together their Coffee Filter Easter Bunny craft.  Kindergarten students will be practicing their watercolor skills as they paint a beautiful Easter Cross picture.  First Graders viewed how artists paint Springtime last week.  We will also be using watercolor to paint our Spring pictures.  The Second Grade class will enjoy a fun game to see who can find the most crosses inside our lovely church.  Then using pads and paper they will sketch their favorite cross and use crayons for color.

The Third Grade Class will enjoy a tour of the different kinds of Stained Glass windows in our church.  This tour will culminate with the students using church symbols to design their very own stained glass window.  Fourth Graders will view the artwork of Flemish artist and diplomat Peter Paul Rubens.  Rubens was considered the most influential artist of the Flemish Baroque tradition. The students will focus their study of Rubens’ work on the Crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Fifth Graders will finish up their Romero Britto inspired art pieces.

Sixth Grade will be starting a unit on Portraiture.  They will be assigned a portrait partner so that they can draw each other from the neck up.  Seventh Grade is almost done with their “Mug Rugs.”  They will be finishing up their weaving hopefully this week.  Eighth Graders have begun their drawings of a large flower inspired by the work of Georgia O’Keeffe.  This week they will add color and shading using chalk pastels.

Happy Spring to All and Keep Creating!
