CALLING ALL ARTISTS — ART CONTEST!!! Please make sure you read about the exciting Art Contest “Only Jesus: No Other Name” that is highlighted on the handout that went home with your child this week. Even though the contest is optional I strongly encourage your child to participate. There are prizes awarded to the winners of the different age categories! This Week in Art ~
Our ECC Classes will be painting their paper plates to replicate Monet’s Lily Pond.
Kindergarten will be practicing how to draw a person using basic shapes. Then they will draw a special person on their Fall Collage and use crayons to add beautiful fall colors.
Gr. 1 will practice Line Families and use their new lines and shapes to create a Kandinsky inspired Line & Shape Collage.
Our Gr. 2 Class will be learning about the special kind of Folk Art artist Heather Galler creates. She uses bright colors, bold colors and LOTS of patterns in her art work.
Gr. 3 will finish up their Faith Ringgold-inspired Favorite Family Memory drawings this week.
This week is the last class for Gr. 4 to complete their construction paper landscape collages and Gr. 5 to finish their Candy Corn Character collages.
Gr. 6 learned about the Neo-Impressionist artist G. Seurat and his painting technique using dots of paint called Pointillism. This week the students will be using Qtips to create their own DOT painting of Seurat’s famous painting of The river Seine at LaGrande-Jatte 1888.
Gr. 7 will be creating an abstract drawing using warm tones and organic, fall shapes.
Gr. 8 will continue to work on their “phobia” drawings.
Our Art Elective class will be adding a shiny glaze to their acrylic paintings and begin designing a Shadow Box with a unique them.
