This Week in Art
Kindergarten will finish up their Fall Collages this week. The collages will really POP when they glue on the tissue paper crumbles that represent the bold colors of fall. I am SOOO proud of how much this class has learned in the last few weeks. Everyone has settled in to school and listening skills are growing sharper all the time!
First Graders learned about the vibrant colors and various lines and shapes that the artist V. Kandinsky used to express himself in his work. The students learned that the artist had a gift by listening to music and letting the music inspire his artwork. The class will draw and cut out colorful shapes from construction paper and add a variety of lines to enhance their collages.
The Second Grade is working on their Folk Art drawings inspired by the art work of Heather Galler. They are drawing a variety of patterns and will add bold colors with markers and crayon.
Third Grade will be learning about the impressionist style of painting by viewing the work of Renoir and analyzing his Sunflowers in a Vase painting. They will be using craypas to color in their flower drawings and will be demonstrating how light affects color using highlights and shading.
Fourth Graders will enjoy a lesson on Graphic Stencil Design and will demonstrate their learning by using shapes and oil pastels in a creative pattern or design.
The Fifth Grade students will learn about the history of Batik. They will use various leaf stencils to create a Fall Batik using glue and watercolors.
Sixth Graders have begun their pointillism watercolor painting of The River Seine demonstrating how various color dots of paint blend together to form the impressionist style of painting.
Seventh Grade will be creating an Organic shapes abstract drawing using the warm tones of fall colors.
Eighth Grade students will be finishing up their Phobia drawings this week… they sure are pretty scary looking!!!
Art Elective students have started painting their cardboard shadow boxes. Once the painting process is done the class will be excited to glue on items they brought in to reflect their shadow box theme.
I hope everyone will be inspired by the beautiful colors of the season and Keep Creating!
