Happy New Year to All!

The Preschool classes will be starting off the new year making stained glass mittens to hang on their classroom windows.  They will use colorful tissue paper squares, a template of black outlined mittens and contact paper.  Kindergarten will continue work on their Snowman Collages.  The First graders will also finish up their Snowmen at Night pictures.  They will enhance their drawings by adding iridescent snow glitter.  Second Grade will start a new lesson showcasing the use of space in art.  The class will be making an Evergreen Tree Mixed Media Collage.

Our Third Grade class will be finishing up their Watercolor Birch Tree Winter Scenes.  This week they will add shadows and details to the trees as well as an iridescent moon.  Fourth Grade will continue work on their flat and peaked-roof structures.  This project culminated from a lesson in architecture.  Some students have already started building second floors to their structures.  The Fifth graders will continue working on their Word Art pictures based on the work of artist Paul Klee.

Sixth Grade is doing a fabulous job on their Northern Lights chalk pastel drawings that will be pasted on a new year calendar.  The Seventh graders will continue painting their Winter scenes adding tints of color to the snow and sky.  Eighth Grade will finish up their Snowglobe designs this week.  Finally, the Trimester 2 Art Elective class will start a new Low Relief Sculpture project using toilet paper and paper towels rolls.  I can’t wait to show off all their hard work in the hallways!

Keep Creating!
