This Week in Art:

The Preschool classes will enjoy viewing Kandinsky’s bold colored Concentric Circle painting. They will be creating their own version of this painting by dipping various sized circular shapes into different colors of paint and stamping them onto white background paper. Kindergarten will be creating a Leaf People collage using different sized fall leaves, crayon drawn bodies and wiggly eyes. The First Grade will learn about perspective when they create a collage to depict the “Poppy Scene” from the Wizard of Oz!  Second graders will be finishing up their Folk Art project this week.

Both Third and Fourth Grade classes will start work on their Thankful Turkey Tissue Box Centerpieces.  These will be used in November for our annual school-wide Thanksgiving Feast. Fifth Grade will start a lesson on the various shades of gray.  They will be using chalk pastels in their drawings to show the value range from white to black.

The Sixth graders will start work on their Sports Jersey Designs.  Seventh Grade will continue working on their Textured Animal Drawings.  The Eighth Grade will complete their Autumn Landscape Impressionist-style paintings this week.  Finally, the Art Elective class has been busy building their modular sculptures — and some of them are growing pretty high!

Keep Creating!
