READING- Our essential question for the week is “Why do people use wheels?” To help us answer the question we will read and discuss the stories, “Good Morning Digger,” “What Do Wheels Do All Day?” and “Wheels Long Ago and Today.” Our other areas of focus are the beginning “p” sound, high frequency word “to” and reviewing the other words we’ve learned thus far, practicing reading fluency, blending phonemes, identifying synonyms, learning number words are adjectives, and use of the words, “text,” “graphics,” and “conclusion.”

MATH- Chapter 5 will be a chapter on addition. The class will use the following Math vocabulary, “add”, “plus”, and “is equal to” as they solve problems by using the strategy “act it out.”

RELIGION- We are reviewing the Nativity story and then adding the visit of the Wise Men to the story as we discuss Epiphany.

SCIENCE- Winter brings snow, and how a snowflake is made will be our topics of discussion.

SOCIAL STUDIES- How do wheels help us as it “ties into” our Reading theme for this week.

HANDWRITING- We will practice writing capital and lower case “P-p.”

JOURNAL- We will draw a picture of something that has wheels and write a sentence about our picture.
