Welcome Back! Happy New Year!
Spelling will be getting a little more challenging now that we have started Unit 3 in Reading. The new words for this week are: that, then, this, them, with, bath. The vocabulary (“R” book) words are: blue, water, little, cold, live, where, far, their. The children will write their spelling words 3x each for homework by Tuesday. There are now 8 “R” book words but the children only have to know the words on their spelling list for the test. We will eventually have all 14 words on the tests. They should choose any 3 words and write 3 sentences by Wednesday. I am slowly getting them ready to write 10 sentences weekly! Spelling Test will be on Friday.
Phonics- digraph th, word endings
Language Arts- proper nouns
Reading: We will read the story “At Home in the Ocean” this week. The children will read it again at home before the test. The reading tests will be given on Friday.
Math- chapter 6 test on Tuesday; practice test given on Monday
Science- parts of a plant
Social Studies- life long ago
Religion- Simeon and Anna
Weekly Reader- Brrr-ing it on, Winter!

It was great to have time off for Christmas vacation, but it is good to be back to see all of the children’s smiling faces, ready to get back to work!
