REMINDERS:
- Encourage your child to READ every night to strengthen their skills. Don’t forget you can have them read all different things – the back of a cereal box, a favorite book, a magazine, a comic book, a card, posters. Everything counts as practice!
- In order to help your child in math, it would be helpful to practice the basic addition facts daily, especially the doubles facts. This will help them to work quicker and more accurately.
- Every week I will be sending home decodable readers for your child to practice reading at home. It would be beneficial for your child to read them aloud to an adult at home. It will greatly increase their decoding skills, fluency, and oral reading. The decodable readers also go along with the phonics skills we are learning for the week.
- The K-3 Christmas concert will be December 16th. Mr. DeVries has sent home a note with specific details about the concert.
- Our 1st grade Christmas luncheon will be on December 18th. The class moms will be contacting you to help send in supplies and treats. The Christmas luncheon will be a dress “up” day. Children can wear party clothes. No jeans, sweatshirts, or sneakers please!
- Do not forget to send in a wrapped book for your child that will be given at the luncheon by Santa. I have not received many, and I don’t want your child to feel left out when Santa hands out the gifts. If I have not received a book for your child yet, I have sent a note home with them today.

12/17 – Social Studies Test. Chapter 2
12/19 – Reading Test for Unit 2 – comprehension and analyzing text (This is not a test to study for!)
CHAPTERS BEING COVERED THIS WEEK:
READING: There will be no new story this week. We will start a new story after the break.
LANGUAGE ARTS: No Language Arts this week.
PHONICS: No phonics this week
MATH: We will be working on and finishing Chapter 6. The Chapter 6 test will be after the break.
RELIGION: We will be working on Unit 6 – The Savior Comes
SCIENCE: We will working on Chapter 3 – How Plants and Animals Live.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We will be taking our test on Chapter 2 – All about Earth. The test will be Wednesday, 12/17
SPELLING: no spelling this week.
