Hello all! I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weekend we just had. This week we have a lot going on. First, tomorrow is picture day. Each student received an order form. Please contact the office if you need another copy. Second, Wednesday is Orange Day, to show unity against bullying. Third, there are several tests and quizzes coming up in the near future; please note the details below.

8th Social Studies

On Wednesday the students will take the Chapter 16 test. This was a rather short chapter, but there is a lot of information to be gleaned. You may access the study guide here. Extra help will be available Wednesday morning. On Thursday, we will begin study life in the “Wild West”: The Gold Rush, the Transcontinental Railroad, cowboys, and much more.

8th Math

This week we will expand on our study of Scientific Notation and learn how to add, subtract, multiply and divide number in scientific notation. The students will be finishing Module 2 and will have a quiz on Friday. I will be available for extra help Friday morning before school.

8th Religion

This week the students will finish presenting their Tough Times Toolkit projects, and then move on to studying Moses to close out Unit 1. The projects have been fantastic. I am very happy with the thoughtfulness of the topics, and I especially commend those students who included a personal testimony in their presentation. It truly takes courage to not only present to the class, but it is sometimes difficult to share our own weaknesses. The memory verse this week is 1 Corinthians 1:26-27, which can be found on page 27 of the student book, or here. Since this is a lengthy verse, I will provide a word bank for the quiz. Next Thursday, the students will take the Unit 1 Test, and I will send home details next week.

Have a blessed week!
