Hello, all! Well, we have one more week before before our Winter Recess, and a jammed- pack week it is. All of the Social Studies Classes will be finishing up their respective chapters and 8AA Religion will begin working on a project.

8th Social Studies

Eighth Grade is finishing up chapter 20 this week by looking at U.S./Latin American relations.  We will begin by studying the construction of the Panama Canal and then look at the policies developed by Presidents Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson. Later in the week, both classes will begin working on a Document Based Question (DBQ) that will count as the chapter test grade. We will go over the documents as a class, and then the students will write their essays in class on Friday.

7th Social Studies

In seventh grade this week, the U.S. will finally win the war for independence! We are starting the week by stepping away from the battlefield and looking at how various groups were impacted by the war on the home front. We will then examine the battles that took place in the West and on the sea, and finally what caused the British to surrender. Both seventh grade classes will also work on a DBQ in place of a standard chapter test.

8AA Religion

Today, 8AA will be taking their Unit 2 Quiz. I will also be sending home an outline for their 3rd quarter project. This project will ask the students to research the professions they would like to pursue as adults, and also explain how God can be served and glorified in their chosen field. The students may put together a poster or a PowerPoint presentation, and each will present to the class. This will be due Wednesday, February 26th.

The Memory verse for this week will be Isaiah 6:8, found on page 57 in the student book.
