In addition to our regular curriculum, we are also spending time this new year, focusing on kindness and how we can show kindness to others.  As a group we have discussed that it is important to be the best student we can be and also to be the best person we can be at all times!  Kindness is a great place to start!

Week of: January 13-17

Spelling: quick, quarter, squint, quiz, squeeze, quote, quit, squash, queen, quilt, squirm, quart, squeal, quake, quill, quarrel, square, quite, question, quiet

Vocabulary:  bristle, genuine, indicate, tardy

Writing Journal Assignment:  If you were put in charge of teaching a brand-new class at our school, what type of class would you create?  Explain what subjects your class would discuss, and talk about some of the assignments your students would do.  This should be two paragraphs of approximately five sentences in each.

Math: Division with remainders using the standard algorithm

Science: Igneous and metamorphic rocks

Social Studies: Compare and contrast farm life and city life in the colonies

Reading: Ongoing free reading in class, reading notebook, conferencing

Language Arts:  review verbs and verb tenses, test

Religion: daily devotions

Tests:

  • Thursday – Memory Quiz
  • Friday – Spelling; Language Arts – Verbs

Important News:

  • Math Extra Help will be held on Wednesday at 7:45 am.
  • Friday will be Science Friday with 4AA.
  • There will be no school on Monday, January 20th, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
  • Look for news from the 4th grade in next week’s Trinity Times
