It’s hard to believe that we have turned the calendar over to another new year! The 4th graders are working hard and moving nicely through our curriculum. This month will bring us to the end of our second marking quarter. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
Week of: January 6-10
Spelling: often, knot, wring, island, lamb, answer, knee, written, though, knock, echo, known, comb, wrong, limb, knife, listen, honest, doubt, calm
Vocabulary: appoint, provision, epidemic, vanity
Writing Journal Assignment: Martin Luther King, Jr. gave speeches about all people being equal and he made a difference in our country. Write a speech about this same topic as if you toured the united States with Dr. King. Refer to the hand-out we read in class as well as our class discussion for your ideas. Your speech should have an introduction sentence and mention three reasons why it is important for all people to be treated equally. This assignment should be 8-10 sentences in length.

Science: What are minerals?
Social Studies: Trouble in the colonies
Reading: Ongoing free reading in class, reading notebook, conferencing
Language Arts: Verbs and verb tenses
Religion: daily devotions; review of Commandments
