We had so much to be thankful for last week in 2AA. I am extremely thankful for my 15 bright, friendly and extremely helpful second graders. Today we began getting our classroom ready for our next special holiday. December will be filled with books, lessons and crafts that will remind us of the true meaning of Christmas.

Here’s a look at what we will be learning this week!

Math– We will be representing numbers up to 1,000 with place value disks. We will be exploring how to represent 10 ones as a ten and 10 tens as 100. We will continue practicing writing numbers in unit, expanded and standard form.

Reading- We will be reading story Arthur Writes a Story from our reading series. In this story Arthur learns the importance of trusting his own writing ideas.

LA- We are beginning a new unit on verbs. The students will learn about action and present tense verbs this week. We are beginning to explore a new style of writing, explanatory writing.

Science- We will be learning about life cycles (sea turtles and dragonflies).

SS– We will be learning about the 13 colonies and the fight for freedom.

Religion- The story of “David and Saul” will help us explore envy and how we can show God’s love.
