I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We are now in the final stretch before Christmas break, and we have a lot to do between now and then. There are also several activities and events taking place this month, so please consult the school calendar to keep up to date.

8th Social Studies

Eighth Grade is starting a unit on the growth of industry and urbanization in the United States. Throughout the chapter we will be referencing the History Channel’s award-winning series The Men Who Built America. If you are interested, you may read up on these influential gentlemen and view several videos here.

7th Social Studies

Seventh Grade is also starting a new unit of study. In this chapter we will be looking at how life was lived in the 13 colonies. This week we are starting with government traditions that shaped our modern rights/freedoms. Later in the week, each class will conduct a mock trial based on the 1735 case of John Peter Zenger. This trial is considered to be the basis for our First Amendment right to freedom of speech. This website gives a great explanation of the events surrounding the trial.

8AA Religion

8AA continues to study the events of Exodus. This week we will be examining the story of the golden calf, found on pages 36-37 in the student book. The memory verse for this week is Psalm 31:6-7, which may be found on page 37.
